Sokolov Volodymyr Illich was born on September 7, 1962 in Olhovka village in Luhansk region.

From 1969 to 1979 he studied at Lugansk secondary school № 2.

In 1984 graduated Voroshilovgradskij mashinostroitel’nyj institute by specialty “Hydraulic machines and automation equipment” and was qualified as mechanical engineer. After graduation he worked at Luhansk machine-tool plant. In 1986 he was transferred to work in Luhansk Machine building institute.

In 1991 received a Ph.D. in Bauman Moscow State Technical University

In 2001 he defended his doctoral dissertation in Donbas national academy of civil engineering and architecture.

In 2002, Sokolov V.I. awarded the academic title of professor.

From 2002 to 2005, worked as head of science department in Luhansk regional state administration.

For organizational work in science, technology and innovation in field of transfer and intellectual property protection awarded by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In 2005 transferred to East Ukrainian National University of Vladimir Dahl. From 2005 to 2016 he worked as dean of mechanical faculty, director of Applied mechanics and materials institute, dean of mechanical and electrical engineering faculty. At the same time he headed mechanical engineering, machine tools and instruments department, was a member of expert committee on mechanics and transport of the State Accreditation Commission.

Since 2016, head of Machine engineering and applied mechanics department.

Author of over 270 scientific and methodical works.
